Your Role

The primary purpose of this role is to establish a maintenance strategy that proactively identifies and fixes the root causes of equipment failure before they occur. The goal is to increase asset reliability, availability, and uptime, while reducing the risk of downtime and costly maintenance.

As a Maintenance Engineer, You Will

• Develop and refine strategies for preventative maintenance, ad hoc maintenance, and capital works.
• Focus on identifying the root causes of equipment failure and breakdowns.
• Ensure maintenance work is performed at regular intervals, streamlining intervals based on either calendar or usage.
• Implement innovative solutions to improve productivity, efficiency, and resource utilization, including the use of existing tools like CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and Safety Culture.
• Track key metrics to measure efficiency gains and cost savings, with KPIs focused on reduced repair and labor costs, and compliance with fire/general safety features.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers and vendors to achieve the best value and ensure long-term partnerships.
• Hold service providers accountable and leverage business opportunities and scale to improve both cost and speed of critical repairs.
• Manage the Fire/safety/cleaning asset register and interpret the most critical priorities.
• Maintain records of all planned maintenance processes and work orders.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  
  

What You Need

Non-negotiables

• Experience in Facilities Maintenance Management is required.
• Proven track record in multi-site facilities/building maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to recognize the fundamental cause of equipment failures and fix them before they cause major issues.
• Skilled in time management, planning, and goal setting to ensure task completion, and proficiency in prioritizing, delegating, and managing tasks across multiple disciplines.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to interpret pricing and quotations, effectively negotiate, and challenge service provider quotes.
  
  

Preferred Skills/expertise

• Ideally, 3 years’ experience in proactive & programmed maintenance.
• Experience or background with CMMS Systems (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
• Experience in Fire Safety and Cleaning Maintenance.
• Demonstrated retail site experience or equivalent, preferably in a trade-related and/or petrol and convenience related business.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong interpersonal skills to foster effective relationships with stakeholders.
