Job Summary
The Operations Lead – Cloud is responsible for managing and optimizing cloud operations across the organization’s cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, or hybrid). This role ensures reliable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud services while leading a team of engineers to deliver scalable and resilient infrastructure that supports business goals.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Operations Management
Oversee daily operations of cloud environments (production, staging, and development).
Manage cloud provisioning, monitoring, performance optimization, and incident response.
Ensure high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery strategies are implemented and tested.
Collaborate with DevOps and Security teams to maintain compliance, reliability, and automation standards.
Leadership & Team Management
Lead and mentor a team of Cloud Operations Engineers and Administrators.
Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement, automation, and best practices.
Develop and maintain operational runbooks, procedures, and documentation.
Cost, Security & Compliance Management
Monitor and optimize cloud usage and spending; implement cost-saving initiatives.
Enforce security policies, governance, and compliance standards (e.g., ISO, SOC2, GDPR).
Partner with cybersecurity and compliance teams to ensure secure cloud operations.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
Work closely with product, infrastructure, and application teams to support deployment and lifecycle management.
Participate in change management, capacity planning, and performance reviews.
Serve as the escalation point for cloud-related incidents and outages.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
6–10 years of experience in cloud operations, system administration, or DevOps.
3+ years in a leadership or team lead role.
Technical Skills
Expertise with one or more cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Strong knowledge of Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and monitoring tools (Datadog, Prometheus, CloudWatch, etc.).
Familiarity with ITIL, SRE, or DevOps frameworks.
Solid understanding of networking, security, and identity management in the cloud.
Soft Skills
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
