We’re looking for an Investigator to join our team at MBPS. In this role, you are responsible for conducting comprehensive investigations pertinent to known or suspected frauds, violations of company policy, misconduct and acts of unethical and/or criminal nature that impact the Company’s operations. GIFS works closely with business units representing all Manulife segments and, when necessary, external regulatory and law enforcement authorities.

Position Responsibilities

  • Handle case assignments of varying complexity related to internal and external fraud, including misconduct and sales/market issues involving employees, agents, distributors, and others.
  • Conduct investigations with professionalism, confidentiality, and quality, either independently or with senior GIFS members.
  • Conduct interviews and take detailed notes from conversations with employees, agents, and other parties.
  • Obtain and review physical, documentary, and forensic evidence.
  • Demonstrate strong information gathering and analysis skills using Company databases, Internet sources, and external providers.
  • Communicate and present investigation findings through well-written, accurate, concise, and objective reports.
  • Prioritize case load according to GIFS and requester needs while regularly updating on findings and investigation status.
  • Manage case file processes including opening, closing, document flow, and record retention in line with GIFS and Company policy.
  • Stay informed about Company products and requester operations.
  • Assist in preparing and presenting cases for referral to law enforcement, prosecution, and regulators as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of current investigative techniques, industry developments, compliance issues, AML/ATF, privacy laws, and relevant legislation.
  • Contribute to the Company’s fraud awareness training program by developing and delivering training materials and communications.
  • Collaborate with and support Manulife Corporate Security as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Four or more years of experience in fraud and financial crimes investigations, employee misconduct, internal policy violations, HR/employee-relations investigations, regulatory compliance, or AML compliance.
  • University degree, post-secondary diploma, or professional qualification, preferably in finance, accounting, business, or legal disciplines.
  • Previous law enforcement experience is a plus.
  • General knowledge of insurance industry practices, rules, and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient interviewing skills and strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, lateral thinking, and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently prioritize work, meet deadlines, and work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), and related designations are preferred.
  • Proficiency in other Asian languages is a plus.
