- Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information during registration or prior to the visit.
- Use payer websites or verification tools to confirm active coverage and specific plan benefits.
- Flag accounts that require prior authorization or additional review.
- Collaborate with front desk and clinical teams to resolve insurance discrepancies.
- Document insurance details clearly and accurately in the EMR.
- Assist in obtaining missing insurance cards or documentation from patients.
- Escalate any issues with invalid or expired insurance to senior team members.
- Respond to basic patient inquiries regarding insurance and copays
Non-negotiables
- English skill is the top priority
- Healthcare/Medical office experience
- Basic knowledge of commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare insurance plans
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, United Healthcare, Medicare, and Medicaid MCOs (Texas-specific) preferred
