Overall Purpose
Lead airfreight operations at the country level and provide input to and lead the implementation of functional strategy to deliver flow of goods and information across the customer’s global supply chain. Engage proactively with customers and manage shipments against the customer or delivery expectation in line with country’s business strategy and objectives, corporate guidelines and policies.

Key Activities
- Formulate airfreight operations strategy in line with country business strategy and requirements, global guidelines and policies
- Lead planning and implementation of airfreight operations plans, measures and budgets to achieve operational results driving profitability, volume growth and service expansion
- Develop plans, organize and control large country projects and initiatives to provide fast, reliable, efficient and affordable airfreight operations solutions
- Lead effective airfreight operations management through end-to-end capacity management, optimization of network procurement, implementation of consolidation opportunities, etc.
- Oversee and take decisions for operation sites, procurement of capacity, technical support (buying, capacity, etc.) and local purchasing in country according to global policy
- Monitor and act on preferred carrier usage and related incentive deals in the country
- Steer market profiling and customer/ competitor research and analysis activities to understand and identify market opportunities and challenges
- Define effective pricing strategies to sustain profitable growth, and guide identification and implementation of new products within country and provide input on solution design and service elements
- Liaise with sales to support interaction with key customers and provide pricing and margin guidance, support on bids, RFQs and customer presentations
- Set and monitor implementation to compliance standards, procedures and specifications for the country in line with global guidelines
- Benchmark and embed best in class infrastructure and practices for airfreight operations at the country level
- Uses available tools to proactively monitor and improve performance
- Conduct regular dialogues with team to review quality and performance levels vs targets
- Routing, Shipping, Carrier Management, Third Party Logistics, Airlines, Ground Transportation, Cold Chain, Import Export, Tracking, CRM, Telecommunications, Budgets, Microsoft Excel, Technology Trends, Commercial Management, DHL Business Knowledge, Business Processes, Business Strategy, Stakeholder Management, Influencing, Feedback, Presentation & Storytelling, Facilitation, Negotiation, People Management, Resourcing
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Airfreight Operations leadership
- Strong Organizational skills – Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize, and execute on assigned deliverables
- Results-oriented - Knows how to achieve commercial drive in the workplace and has a strong sense of business acumen.
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentations)
- Proficient computer skills: Microsoft (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook)
