Job Purpose

The main purpose of the Customs Manager role is to oversee the daily operational success of the customs team, by managing, mentor and motivating the Customs Team Leads to drive customs compliance and productivity excellence.

The customs manager will also collaborate to enhance the operational processes and the productivity reporting through technology and innovation.

Your Responsibilities

• Help build and foster a culture of “Great Place To Work” while leading employees to meet the organisations expectations for productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction
• Oversees the customs clearance process to ensure adherence to customs regulations, laws, and procedures within the stakeholder country
• Reviews productivity and accuracy reports to track team and departmental performance
• Engages daily with customs team leads overseeing the operational tasks as outlined in the Leader Standard Work practices
• Communicates regularly with stakeholder and Customs BU manager as to productivity and quality performance and resolves challenges efficiently and effectively
• Ability and willingness to take ownership for resolution of enquiries and complaints from stakeholder
• Collaborates with Human Resources BU to recruit, interview, select, hire, and onboard new employees
• Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support career development through coaching and mentoring
• Drive a positive employee experience with the available employee recognition and rewards inline with the company goals
• Escalation point for disciplinary matters as detailed in the Consequence Management Framework within the department
• Develops and implements new systems and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness in conjunction with support functions for continuous improvement

Essential:

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong Leadership Experience
• Agility to adjust to shifting priorities
• Fluency in English -both Verbal & Written
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
• Organisational and time management skills
• Driving continuous improvement
  
  

Desirable:

• Bachelor of Science in Customs Administration
• At least 3 years' experience in a similar position in the past
• Preferable to have operational knowledge of either air/sea/road freight or global trade compliance
