JOB DESCRIPTION:


YOUR ROLE


As Manager, Government Relations - You will be the primary liaison between AirAsia Philippines and various government agencies, particularly those in the aviation sector such as CAAP, MIAA, CAB, BCDA, and DOTr. Your role is essential in building strategic relationships, ensuring regulatory compliance, facilitating policy advocacy, and enabling smooth airport and flight operations aligned with national standards and AirAsia’s business objectives.


WHAT YOU’LL CHAMPION:

  • Represent AirAsia Philippines in discussions and negotiations with aviation and transportation government agencies.
  • Monitor and interpret aviation regulations, government circulars, and legislative developments affecting airline operations.
  • Ensure compliance with permits, licenses, and certifications required by aviation authorities (e.g. CAAP AOC, CAB permits, MIAA accreditations).
  • Coordinate and facilitate approvals, applications, and renewals with regulatory bodies.
  • Build and sustain collaborative partnerships with key public officials, airport authorities, and industry stakeholders.
  • Advocate for AirAsia’s position on policy matters impacting route rights, fees, slot allocations, taxation, and infrastructure access.
  • Support the development and implementation of crisis response strategies involving government coordination (e.g. airport disruptions, emergencies, regulatory audits).
  • Draft position papers, letters, and official communication addressed to government entities.
  • Maintain a government relations tracker and database of key contacts, commitments, and timelines.
  • Assist in government-led inspections, compliance audits, or legislative hearings as needed.


WHO YOU ARE:

  • Well-versed in Philippine aviation regulations, with solid experience liaising with CAAP, CAB, MIAA, and DOTr.
  • Strong background in public policy, legal affairs, or government relations, preferably in an aviation or transportation-related environment.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent negotiation and lobbying skills.
  • Skilled in drafting formal correspondence, position papers, and briefing materials.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport at all levels of government.
  • Organized and proactive, with a track record of meeting regulatory deadlines and managing external stakeholders.
  • Able to work under pressure and represent the company with professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Law, or related fields (Master’s degree is a plus).
  • A passionate advocate of connectivity, accessibility, and innovation in aviation.
