General Accounting Manager

The General Accounting Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the general accounting department including accounts payable, receiving verification, and credit and collection sections. He/she will assist the Accounting Manager in strategic and tactical decision-making by providing accurate and timely financial reports. He/she will ensure that all operational accounting reports are in accordance with generally accepted principles and practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
a. Ensures effective management and control of the approval, amendment, availment, suspension, and cancellation of customers' credit lines and terms.
b. Manages the collection of all accounts receivable, ensuring that these are collected on due dates and that overdue accounts are kept to a minimum level set by management.
c. Establishes and implements Credit and Collection policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with top management, organization officials, and staff members as necessary.
d. Conducts monthly credit meetings with management to report the account receivable aging and updates on collection activities, forecast, overdue accounts, CWT collections, potential problems, and any concerns affecting his/her department.
e. Oversees and analyses the company's financial expenditures; ensures timely payment of payables.
f. Keeps track of the status of all transactions taking place within the company and external vendors and contractors.
g. Conducts once a month meeting with Operations to discuss overdue and unpaid accounts, potential collection problems, lapses in procedures and any concerns affecting slow billing and collection and payment turnover.
h. Prepares monthly analysis of accounts payable and receivable and produces monthly reports.
i. Leads the team through management and mentorship; builds, develops, and leads a team of highly engaged professionals to drive value to the company and by maximizing the return on the "investment" in people.
j. Performs other related activities as may be deemed necessary and/or directed by the immediate superior or the Management.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accountancy
2. Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
3. At least 5 years progressive experience in Accounting with specialization in Credit and Collection, AP or equivalent.
