Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business.
The Role
This is for a Payroll Accounting Analyst role under the General Accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the timely and accurate reconciliation of payroll GL accounts across one or more GM entities. This is a great learning opportunity to understand the different GM payroll systems, and to appreciate how payroll information rolls into our monthly Balance Sheet and Income Statements. The successful candidate will also be responsible in driving transformation in the space by pushing for ways to standardize, simplify and automate the payroll accounting processes globally. The Country controllers and the GBS People Services team are the main stakeholders of this role.

What You’ll Do
- Perform General Ledger functions; assure accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Identify, interpret and analyze potential accounting risks and issues
- Research and analyze accounting transactions and contracts
- Identify and execute internal controls, SOX compliance and financial procedures
- Partner with Finance to determine accounting implications of transactions and perform analytical analyses to utilize when making all material business decisions
- Assist with internal and external financial reporting - including analyzing consolidated results, drafting SEC documents and management review reports, ensuring quality, and administering strict timeline
- Evaluate current accounting practices and policies and drive continuous improvement
- Research and interpret new accounting standards and brainstorm how each applies to GM as well as comply with external 10-Q/10-K reporting requirements
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- B.S. Accountancy graduate
- 1-3 years of experience in doing Payroll-accounting related work
- Strong communication skills to effectively and directly collaborate with key stakeholders.
- Can demonstrate agility and composure in high pressure situations; With great attention to detail
- Keen in driving transformation and process improvements
- Willingness to work hybrid on mid shift
- With experience in other areas of General Accounting and Finance
- Willing and able to take on leadership responsibilities
- Already knowledgeable in some productivity tools such as KNIME, PowerBI, A360, etc.
