Your Role
As an Electrical Estimator, you will:
- Oversee the preparation of estimates and submission of tenders.
- Ensure cost estimates include a high level of detail covering labor, materials, schedules, and cost structures.
- Research and analyze construction and design documents to determine estimated project costs.
- Critically review bid documents to identify risks and opportunities; communicate insights to management.
- Solicit and assess subcontractor bids and supplier quotations and evaluate against self-perform estimates.
- Recommend and implement cost reduction strategies for more competitive bids.
- Identify and evaluate technical issues related to projects and provide solutions.
- Prepare and update cost forecasts and tender-related financial reporting.
- Manage contract risks proactively to meet planned outcomes and compliance obligations.
- Ensure tender submissions meet legislative, pre-contract, and commercial requirements.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and best practices to support development of the estimating team.
- Uphold a positive company image with clients, communities, stakeholders, and peers while adhering to strong professional conduct.
- Promote and comply with company HSEQ programs, policies, and procedures, participating in hazard prevention, safety practices, and training initiatives.
- Contribute to business improvement by identifying opportunities, optimizing processes, and supporting risk mitigation.
- Prepare accurate financial insights and give consideration to commercial implications of estimation initiatives.
Non-negotiables
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience as an Electrical Estimator or similar role
- Proficiency in MS Excel
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, contractual documents, and schedules
- Experience handling tender submissions, cost estimates, and RFIs/clarifications
- Postgraduate degree
- Experience within the civil/construction industry
- Experience working remotely in a FIFO environment
- Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
- Sound judgment, decision-making ability, confidentiality, and strong customer service ethic
