DevOps Engineer (Part-Time, Philippines) – AI-Assisted Development | Healthcare App Projects

Hours: 10 hrs/week

Rate: Up to $5/hr

Duration: 6 months with long-term extension

Timezone: CST overlap required

Workstyle: Weekly meetings + daily standups (as needed) + async Slack updates

About Us

We are a fast-growing healthcare technology company building multiple web and mobile applications designed to improve operational efficiency for medical and dental clinics. Our projects include AI-powered tools, workflow automation platforms, virtual staffing systems, and patient-facing apps.

We are looking for a part-time DevOps Engineer based in the Philippines to oversee development workflows, enforce secure coding/IP protection practices, support architecture decisions, and guide outsourced developers using modern AI-assisted coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Vibe Coding).

This role is NOT full development—it's oversight, best-practice guidance, lightweight DevOps support, and ensuring smooth delivery across multiple projects.

Role Responsibilities

DevOps & Deployment Oversight

• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
• Review deployment workflows and ensure consistency across projects
• Monitor build processes, performance, and deployment stability
• Help implement basic DevOps hygiene: logs, alerts, rollback strategy, versioning, etc.
  
  
  

Technical Architecture & Best Practices

• Advise on tech stack selection for new app ideas
• Validate architecture plans from freelancers and internal developers
• Ensure all development practices follow secure coding standards
• Implement and enforce IP protection measures:
• Private GitHub repo control
• Secrets & credential management
• Role-based access for contractors
• Secure code review workflow
  
  
  

Security & Compliance

• Ensure no code violates intellectual property rules
• Promote secure dependency use & vulnerability scanning
• Support HIPAA-aware development workflows (no PHI stored unnecessarily)
• Guide the team on secure API, authentication, and database practices
  
  
  

Project Coordination & Team Support

• Work hand-in-hand with internal and external developers
• Communicate daily updates when needed + weekly sync meetings
• Collaborate through Slack for async communication
• Provide clear goals and weekly milestones
• Help manage outsourced freelancers to ensure on-time delivery
  
  
  

AI-Assisted Development Tools

Engineer MUST be comfortable using and advising developers on:

• Cursor (AI pair-programming environment)
• Claude Code
• Vibe Coding
• Other emerging AI developer-assist tools
  
  
  

Required Skills

This is REQUIRED — our entire development workflow is AI-augmented.

Technical Experience

• 2–4 years of DevOps or Cloud/Infrastructure experience
• Strong knowledge of:
• GitHub repositories & branch workflows
• GitHub Actions CI/CD
• Docker basics (containers, images, environment setup)
  
• Experience supporting web and mobile app developers
• Understanding of API-based platforms, microservices, or serverless
  
  

(If you have Kubernetes or Terraform experience, that is a bonus but not required.)

Security & Code Governance

• Knowledge of secure coding best practices
• Ability to review code commits and flag issues
• Understanding of IP protection and contractor code governance
• Familiar with standards for regulated industries (HIPAA experience preferred but not required)
