Your Role: Business Unit Manager, Pet Health
- Provide strategic leadership, planning, execution, and management of Pet Health activities to increase revenue and growth within the agreed expense budget, optimize market penetration, and meet organizational objectives.
- Lead, develop, and motivate the Sales, Technical, and Marketing Teams to achieve the desired business outcome
- Ensure Sales Force Effectiveness deployment (quantitative and qualitative) parameters.
- Champion Elanco’s Customer Value Selling/CVS capabilities
- Channel Partner Enablement program implementation
- Cover customer segments in Pet Health Ethical, OTC, Modern Trade, and E-commerce
- Deliver the sales and organizational objectives through effective leadership and management of the performance of the sales team.
- Manage and develop staff: overseeing hiring, evaluating performance, defining, and assigning responsibilities, providing opportunities for career development, and improving and assessing departmental procedures in accordance with company objectives.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate sales strategies and activities by managing team resources and incorporating department initiatives to develop and implement sales plans designed to maximize profits and exceed targeted goals.
- Prepare and develop target sales plan by determining customer needs, projecting volume potential, developing price schedules, and promoting specific products to establish forecasts and agent goals.
- Research relevant market activities and technical development and coordinate information on competitors and customers to support Global and Regional Marketing goals.
- Work actively to foster a collaborative environment between the Sales and Marketing departments.
- Plan and coordinate departmental budget strategies and activities by setting objectives, monitoring policies and practices, making expenditure recommendations, allocating resources, operating within set targets to control costs, and ensuring successful departmental operations.
- Advance sales force effectiveness by identifying individuals with leadership potential and providing mentoring and enrichment opportunities consistent with succession planning, including training coaching, and counseling.
- Ensure that effective working relationships are in place across the multi-disciplinary team within the function by communicating the business unit vision, clarifying directions, and leading by example.
- Lead the Technical and Marketing function to ensure that sales, marketing, and technical programs are implemented with speed and quality.
- Manage the Pet Health product portfolio by continuously evaluating the performance of existing products, identifying risks and opportunities, participating in the product development process, creating business cases, and leading product launches and growth initiatives, among others.
- Collaborate/Synergize with FAB teams for the execution of the strategic direction and programs for the expansion of sales coverage of selected/identified FAB products (e.g., Belamyl) to the Pet Health segment.
- Report adverse events and product complaints as per global and local regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to company policies, and procedures when interacting, and promoting products to customers, to protect the Elanco brand and business.
- Collaborate with the Channel Partner Manager in ensuring the implementation of enablement programs and sell-in/sell-out focus.
- Degree in Veterinary Medicine, Business & Social Sciences.
- Preferably with a master’s degree in MBA from a reputable university.
- Minimum 10-15 years of sales function experience and have been in indirect and direct Managerial roles.
- With an excellent performance record of delivering results and commercial milestones
- Must have an established record of accomplishment of significant market exposure and solid training in a leading multinational company.
- Prior working experience in Life Science and heavily regulated industries for Animal Health and Nutrition is preferred.
- Solid knowledge of local functional skills
- Strong communication skills in English (both written and spoken)
- Excellent interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential information/situations and able to network effectively across groups and levels.
- Possess senior-led influence across many functions, having the ability to translate strategic opportunities into operational plans and manage for optimal results through influence.
- Clear understanding of commercialization, development, and support functions related to the regional and business unit strategy.
- Demonstrates strategic thinking capability and ability to apply good judgment across diverse/complex issues.
- High flexibility to adjust quickly and effectively to frequent changes and altered priorities, and able to work under pressure and compliance with strict deadlines.
