Overview

An Outbound Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for lead generation to the Sales team. By contacting a pre-defined business list of target customers, pre-qualifying their needs, you will then be responsible for inputting this data into Hubspot (Sales Hub) CRM, and scheduling a meeting with a Sales Account Executive.

You will need to be inquisitive, friendly, personable, persistent, and able to think fast on your feet to quickly engage a prospect, identify their needs, and motivate them to schedule a meeting with a sales team member.

As an outbound BDR, you are the first person to speak with a potential merchant through outbound cold-calling. You’ll conduct a brief discovery of their business —understanding their current payment terminal setup, point-of-sale requirements, and motivations / interest in taking the next step in the sales journey.

This is not a closing role — you are only required to pre-qualify and book a meeting. A general understanding of the product suite will be essential to handle objections and identify suitability. This is an entry-level sales position, ideal for a previous customer support / technical customer support specialist.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be goaled on:
  • The volume of outbound calls you can make to a targeted (pre-supplied) lead

list (target 100+ calls/day)

  • The volume of successful meetings qualified and booked (target 20+ meetings booked/day)
  • The success rate of meetings to deals won (target >20% deal win rate)
  • Research leads online (Google, Facebook) to pre-identify and understand their potential business needs
  • Qualify and convert cold outbound leads into new business opportunities where fit is identified
  • Conduct exploratory calls with prospect business owners to effectively quantify their business size, type, and needs with regards to payment terminal and point-of-sale technology, and identify any pain points / opportunities that can be communicated to the Account Executive in advance of their meeting
  • Book meetings for Account Executives directly in their Google Calendar with confirmed

deals, with detailed follow-up notes supplied (via Hubspot) and email confirmation

templates sent to both the Account Executive and the lead, to deliver a warm handover

  • Deliver fantastic merchant experiences through polite, engaging, friendly phone calls

and email conversations

  • Educate prospective merchants on Company's solutions and value propositions
  • Deliver rigorous and detailed handover notes about merchant accounts to Company's Account Executives
  • Stay up-to-date with Company's value propositions, product offerings, client services

  • Become a product evangelist and subject matter expert on all things

Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience as a Business Development Representative, Customer Success

Representative or Product / Onboarding Specialist

  • Hands-on experience with multiple prospecting techniques (including cold calls and

email outreach)

  • Track record of achieving sales-performance or activity-based goals
  • Experience with CRM software (e.g. Hubspot specifically)
  • Familiarity with Google Suite
  • Excellent written, verbal, conversational and listening skills
  • A strong commercial mindset
  • Proficient and demonstrable experience in prospecting, identifying target customers,

evaluating buyer interest, recognising decision-making processes and qualifying

customers
