Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the accounting department's daily operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and implementing accounting policies and procedures. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills to manage the accounting team and collaborate with other departments.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Financial Management and Reporting: Oversee all accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
- Team Leadership: Manage and supervise the accounting staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating team performance.
- Compliance and Controls: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, and report variances.
- Financial Analysis: Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements and provide analysis on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks).
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s degree or CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accounting or financial management role.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficient with XERO accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills. Detail-oriented with a knack for spotting numerical errors.
