The Paralegal -Legal & Compliance is responsible for coordinating all corporate housekeeping activities and ensuring compliance with relevant laws, rules and regulations related to corporate housekeeping. The position shall involve collation of documents from various internal stakeholders, submission of corporate documents in relation to compliance requirements of ARI Corp and ARI BUs, and monitoring of deadlines for compliance. The position shall also involve legal research, safekeeping of corporate documents, drafting of legal agreements, and such other tasks as may be assigned by the Team Leader.

The position holder contributes to the implementation of legal strategies, and the smooth operation of all day-to-day activities of the Legal and Compliance Team of SRRL.

Expected Outcomes And Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive and thorough research on legal, regulatory and compliance issues, whether industry or non-industry related (eg, energy, labor, safety, health and environment issues, regulatory, permitting, land, contracts)
  • Assists in the conduct due diligence on land and other legal matters, as needed
  • Assists in coordination with external counsel for legal and compliance issues
  • Implements strategies on compliance monitoring and audit, to ensure that all permits/contracts/agreements/compliance issues are property tracked and timely complied with for all ARI BUs
  • Drafts contracts, legal opinions, agreements and other legal documents as needed, for the review of the Team Leaders
  • Stays current on relevant industry and government compliance programs related to renewable energy and provides updates regarding changes in legislation, regulations and other requirements that may result in organizational response.
  • Attends public consultations with relevant external stakeholders to represent ARI interests, as may be required by Team Leaders
  • Facilitates timely completion of compliance matters by coordinating with relevant internal teams for submissions.
  • Ensures regular coordination of legal and compliance issues with identified stakeholders to ensure open communication lines
  • Ensures and implements proper filing of legal documents, compliances and permits under the guidance of Team Leaders
  • Regularly reports progress of all legal and compliance issues to Team Leaders.
  • Coordinates with other internal departments for the necessary information or assistance required for the timely submission of all legal and compliance requirements
  • Performs other tasks as may be assigned by the team leader.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Preferably a graduate of Bachelor’s Degree related to Law or Legal Management, or any related four-year course
  • With 1–3 years of experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or in other law-related work
  • Exposure to government agencies, particularly in the energy sector (e.g., NCIP, DENR, LGUs, DOE, ERC, NGCP), is an advantage
  • Background in legal research or prior experience in a law firm is preferred
  • 1 vacant position available in Makati
