Legal Counsel

The Legal Counsel will serve as a strategic and trusted legal partner to the company. In this role, you will provide legal guidance on Philippine labor and employment matters to enable company growth, while proactively safeguarding the business against risks by ensuring robust compliance.
When disputes arise, you will protect the company by driving litigation in formulating strategy, drafting pleadings, and handling appearances before the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC), other administrative bodies, and regular courts.
We are seeking a legal partner — one who pairs technical mastery of Philippine labor law and litigation with a proactive, commercially-minded drive to move the business forward.
Job Responsibilities
1. Labor Law Compliance & Employee Relations
- Provide expert legal guidance and advice on Philippine labor regulations and employee relations
- Ensure company policies and employment contracts remain compliant with evolving labor laws
- Advise HR on legal risks and strategies regarding recruitment, hiring, and compliant benefits administration
- Collaborate cross-functionally to manage labor and dispute risks matters involving PEZA, workplace safety, and privacy
- Assist in training and capacity building for HR and management
2. Disciplinary Process & Grievance Machinery
Assist in the company’s internal employee disciplinary and grievance procedures Ensure strict adherence to administrative due process, assisting in the review of Notices to Explain (NTE), conduct of administrative hearings, and issuance Notices of Decision (NOD)
- Represent the company and manage disputes during the DOLE Single Entry Approach (SENA) mediation process
3. Dispute Resolution & Litigation Management
- Provide in-house handling of routine litigation, representing the company in court proceedings, hearings, mediations, and arbitrations before courts and quasi-judicial or administrative agencies, including but not limited to National Labor Relations Commission and Department of Labor and Employment
- Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court filings
- Proactively identify and mitigate litigation risks based on a deep understanding of company operations
- Handle the preparation of demand letters and legal enforcement strategies to protect company assets and interests
- Assist, where necessary, in conducting corporate investigations
- Act as a liaison with external legal counsel when specialized or external representation is necessary
4. Legal Operations, Training, and Innovation
- Manage and maintain the litigation tracker
- Engage in continuous professional development, upskilling, and legal research to stay ahead of evolving labor laws and industry trends.
- Perform other legal functions and ad-hoc tasks that may be assigned by management from time to time
Qualifications
- Must have at least 4 to 6 years of experience handling labor law and litigation. Experience in a contact center, BPO, an in-house corporate role, or a reputable law firm handling labor matters is highly preferred
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree
- A Member of the Philippine Bar in good standing, compliant with Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) requirements and possesses a valid Professional Tax Receipt (PTR)
