Contract type: Full time

We're looking for a Manager, Information Risk Management – DR CoE to join the Disaster Recovery Center of Excellence (DR CoE) within Global Information Risk Management (GIRM). This role leads the day-to-day execution of Level 2 Independent Oversight over DR Plans, E2E tests, Attestations, and Unannounced Data Center Tabletop Exercises, ensuring consistent application of the Manulife’s Disaster Recovery Standard and the IRM L2 DR Oversight & Challenge Methodology across all segments.

You will manage a team of Senior IRM Specialists, perform quality review of oversight outputs and challenge statements, and partner closely with the DR Practice Area and Segment IROs to drive consistency, transparency, and effectiveness in DR oversight and remediation.

This role combines team leadership, stakeholder management, and active involvement in the closed-loop DR oversight lifecycle with accountability for delivery against SOPs, KPIs, and SLAs.

Position Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Quality Review

  • Manage, coach, and develop Senior IRM Specialists, providing day-to-day direction, performance management, and onboarding support.

  • Perform quality review of L2 oversight checklists, challenge statements, and oversight memos prior to issuance to L1, ensuring conclusions are evidence-based, defensible, and aligned to the DR Standard and Methodology.

  • Allocate workload across the team using the annual oversight schedule.

Oversight Management

  • Oversee intake, prioritization, and execution of DR oversight activities across the closed-loop lifecycle, ensuring activity is completed within required days of L1 completion.

  • Validate sampling rationale and ensure judgmental selection criteria are applied.

  • Review and approve scenario governance assessments, pre-production deployment checks, third-party hosted plan reviews, and trigger event/activation rationale.

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a key escalation point for the DR Practice Area, Segment IROs, DR Coordinators, and business partners on DR oversight matters, testing schedules, and reporting expectations.

  • Lead working sessions and challenge discussions with L1B to socialize observations, align on Issue/CAP creation, and confirm remediation treatment.

Governance, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain and enhance DR CoE SOPs, the L2 DR Oversight Checklist, oversight memos, and the DR Oversight & Challenge Tracker, ensuring consistent final outputs and audit-ready evidence.

  • Deliver regular performance reporting on oversight progress, gaps, remediation status, KRIs and systemic trends to the DR CoE Lead and senior leadership.

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and analytics (e.g., Fusion, Archer, Power BI) across DR oversight processes.

Resource & Priority Management

  • Assist the DR CoE Lead in managing capacity, competing priorities, and escalation of systemic risks or delays in remediation alignment.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5–7 years of experience in Information Risk Management, with strong expertise in disaster recovery risks, controls, and L2 oversight execution.

  • In-depth knowledge of DR testing methodologies, information systems architecture, infrastructure and application recovery, and cloud recovery patterns.

  • Solid understanding of business continuity and operational risk assessment practices (e.g., Incidents, Root Cause Analysis, Scenario Analysis) and Issue/CAP lifecycle.

  • Proven ability to manage, coach, and quality-review work of experienced risk or IT professionals.

  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders across functions, segments, and geographies.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; high proficiency in MS Office, with Power BI, Fusion, or Archer experience a plus.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)

  • Certified Business Resilience IT Professional (CBRITP)

  • CISA, CISM, CISSP, or CRISC

When you join our team:

  • We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want.

  • We’ll recognize and support you in a flexible environment where well-being and inclusion are more than just words.

  • As part of our global team, we’ll support you in shaping the future you want to see.
