This is a role with meaningful impact: you’ll independently manage a fast-paced and high-volume caseload, collaborate with court teams and systems, internal stakeholders, and systems which help uphold the accuracy and reliability of criminal record information that organizations rely on to make critical decisions. This detail-oriented position ensures the accuracy and integrity of criminal record information prior to dissemination to authorized requestors, while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates investigative diligence, and possesses an unwavering commitment to confidentiality and ethical conduct.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research, analyze and document United States criminal history records (including, without limitation, nationwide criminal court records, sex offender registry records, fingerprint records, housing court cases, terrorist watch list records, and federal most wanted records) for job applicants, contractors, and other individuals as required
  • Execute and interpret background checks results in accordance with company policy and legal guidelines using internal and third-party platforms, law enforcement agencies and court records
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies, inconsistencies, or red flags that arise during the verification process
  • Compile, log and present reports detailing background screening results and tracking status timely
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all completed background checks and verification activities
  • Handle sensitive and highly confidential information with discretion and integrity
  • Demonstrate high attention to detail for maximum accuracy
  • Maintain and meet operational metrics and service level agreements
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and usage
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in background screening, customer service, data entry, or administrative support
  • High-speed and accurate typing skills (minimum 45 wpm)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in using online databases, public record search engines, and investigative research tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database software
  • Ability to work independently and drive results with minimal supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and manage a high-volume caseload efficiently
  • Experience working with criminal justice databases
  • Professional skepticism and critical thinking with the ability to assess information credibility
  • Resilience and persistence to follow through on difficult verifications
