Content & Copy Writer

We are looking for a versatile writer with strong research instincts and a journalist's eye for clarity. This role owns content production across Open iT's marketing channels, from long-form blog to web copy to email campaigns and works closely with the Deputy Process Owner and AEO/GEO Content Strategist to produce content that is accurate, well-structured, and built to reach the right audience.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Long-form content - Write and edit blog posts, case studies, landing page copy, and white papers for a B2B audience. Every piece is well researched, accurately sourced, and editorially complete before it goes live. This includes coordinating directly with internal technical experts to verify accuracy and gather insights that can't be sourced externally.

2. Web and landing page copy - Write and update web copy, landing pages, and product-adjacent content in collaboration with the web and UX team. Clear, structured and aligned with brand voice.

3. Email and campaign copy - Draft and proofread copy for email campaigns and marketing collateral.

4. Cross-team coordination - Brief the design team on content assets, incorporate optimization feedback from the AEO/GEO Content Strategist, and flag blockers early so nothing stalls in review.

5. AI-assisted drafting - Use AI tools as part of the writing workflow. Critically evaluate and improve AI-generated drafts by identifying gaps, inaccuracies, and off-brand language before they reach review.

Required Qualifications:

• Writing experience and portfolio. Professional, freelance, or student journalism portfolios are accepted. No portfolio, no consideration.
• Journalistic instincts and critical thinking. Able to interrogate a topic, identify the real angle, and write with a clear and defensible point of view.
• Strong command of written English. Grammar, structure, and clarity are non-negotiable. Comfortable switching between long-form, web copy, and short-form without losing quality.
• Basic SEO awareness. Understands metadata, text hierarchy, and structured content well enough to apply them without needing to be explained from scratch.
• Research skills. Capable of finding, evaluating, and citing credible sources without being prompted.
• Organized, proactive, and collaborative. Uses time-blocking or other time management techniques.
• Bachelor's degree in: Journalism, Communications, English, Marketing, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with AEO or GEO principles beyond standard SEO
• Experience with AI writing tools (Claude preferred) or a demonstrated willingness to learn and optimize AI-assisted workflows
• Basic WordPress or CMS experience
• B2B or technical writing background

Growth Path

This role starts with executing content briefs from the AEO/GEO Content Strategist and Deputy Process Owner. Within a few months, the right person begins thinking alongside the content strategy team: contributing angles, flagging opportunities, and shaping briefs rather than just receiving them. Strong performers grow into Content Lead within a year, with full ownership of the content SP and direct input into Open iT's content and AI visibility strategy.
