This role provides operational and risk management support to the Commercial Banking Operations and Risk team. The Associate is responsible for processing and monitoring payment transactions across Check, ACH, Wire, and Instant Payment channels in accordance with established procedures, banking regulations, and NACHA operating rules. This role operates in a structured, process-driven environment and focuses on accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across a high volume of daily operational tasks. Areas of responsibility include ACH operations and compliance monitoring, Verafin alert queue management, exception processing, Fed adjustment processing, case documentation support, and ongoing adherence to applicable banking rules and regulations. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to follow defined procedures independently are essential to this role.- Review and clear Check, ACH, Wire, and Instant Payment alerts in Verafin in accordance with established risk guidelines; maintain accurate alert documentation, case notes, and queue management
- Clear flagged ACH credit transactions in compliance with updated NACHA operating rules governing RDFI monitoring of incoming credits, ensuring timely and accurate decisioning
- Review and process ACH Proof of Authorization (POA) requests in accordance with NACHA operating rules and internal procedures
- Generate and send ACH On-US Return manual notices accurately and within required NACHA deadlines
- Process Incoming Fed adjustments items accurately and within established deadlines and procedures
- Process check corrections accurately and in accordance with internal procedures and applicable banking regulations
- Provide fraud investigation documentation and data entry support for cases initiated by the onshore team, including case file maintenance, evidence organization, and reporting assistance
- Assist with developing and updating departmental procedures and process documentation to enhance operational efficiency and regulatory compliance
- Communicate with internal team members and escalate items to onshore staff per established guidelines in a timely and accurate manner
- Stay current on applicable banking regulations and operational requirements including NACHA operating rules, Reg E, and UCC Article 4A to ensure ongoing compliance
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in banking operations, ACH processing, fraud operations or a related financial services role within a financial institution
- Working knowledge of Wire, ACH, Check, and Instant Payment systems, and fraud typologies
- Experience with fraud detection and monitoring platforms
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to process high volumes of transactions following defined procedures independently
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet daily processing deadlines
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to communicate clearly with internal team members and escalate issues appropriately
- Experience with Federal Reserve adjustment processing, check corrections, and exception item handling preferred
