Amentum is seeking a Barber to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional grooming services including cutting, trimming, tapering, and styling hair using clippers, scissors, razors, and related tools.
  • Evaluate hair and scalp condition and recommend appropriate grooming techniques.
  • Perform shaving, beard and mustache trimming, scalp treatments, and other grooming services.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workspace in accordance with industry and Navy standards.
  • Recommend grooming products and support customer service needs.
  • Manage equipment, maintain tools, and support morale and welfare initiatives for personnel stationed on the island.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of six months of experience and familiarity with military style haircuts and addressing all types of hair to include coarse and naturally curly hair for all patrons.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English.
  • Must possess a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport must be valid for at least one year beyond hire date.
  • Ability to meet and maintain contract medical requirements for the duration of deployment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain country-specific visas in accordance with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
