Henderson County Department of Public Health is accepting applications for one full-time


Community Health Improvement Specialist. This position is classified as a Human Services Planner II. The


primary focus of the role is to work with communities and partners to plan, implement, and evaluate


community-wide strategies to improve health outcomes. The employee will work to improve health equity in


Henderson County through a high level, strategic vision and subject matter expertise, and act as a resource to


support such work across the community. This includes utilizing health data to plan and implement new


health strategies, identifying gaps and assisting coalitions in making decisions about improving current efforts


The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm, with one hour for lunch. Work schedule


may include non-traditional/additional hours, evening, holiday, or weekend work hours


Qualifications: General knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration with more specific


knowledge of the planning process; and of program areas to which assigned. Ability to communicate


effectively with professional and administrative personnel, exercise judgment and discretion in applying and


interpreting policies and procedures


Preferred knowledges, skills, & abilities: General knowledge of principles and practices of public information


and public health; ability to process and use complicated workplace data and graphics, summarize, compare


and identify trends between and among detailed forms, tables, graphs, diagrams, maps, etc; ability to


communicate effectively and work effectively with people on all educational & professional levels; ability to


deal tactfully with others and exercise good judgment in assessing situations and making decisions; skill in


establishing a rapport with HCDPH staff, county department heads, community leaders, and the public


Required Minimum Training: A master's degree in public or human services administration or a human


services programmatic field, preferably with course work in human services planning and one year of


experience in human service program planning or administration; or graduation from a four-year college or


university and three years of administrative or consultative experience in a human service program; or an


equivalent combination of education and experience


Pre-employment drug screen, driving history and criminal background check is required of finalist applicant
