Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary focus is to managing a small support team in the underwriting, management, and selling of products offered by binding and brokerage carriers with emphasis on writing new business.
Has individual production goals assigned and is measured on new business goal attainment.
Manages a team of sales and underwriting support staff responsible for processing the new business production of the incumbent.
Directs support staff in the underwriting of individual insurance applications to cover property and casualty with guidelines set for the issuance of policies on a standard or substandard basis.
Directs support team on whether to accept, modify or decline a risk through evaluation of the property's value, location, usage, and safety features, and other information pertinent to the decision.
Has frequent contact with field to gather information on which to base and defend underwriting decisions.
Develops relationships with contracted brokers.
Works under limited supervision.
- Orients, trains, assigns and checks the work of lower level reports.
- Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years related work experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Prior experience managing support staff.
- Assignments are broad in nature and typically require originality and ingenuity.
