Manulife is looking to hire an entry level Paralegal/Legal assistant to provide legal support for its North American Private Markets Legal Team. The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of corporate and/or financial or investment law and governance based on relevant prior work experience. We are looking for a motivated and dynamic professional to primarily provide legal research support for corporate governance and compliance matters relating to the management of investment entities in the United States, Canada and in some international jurisdictions and to generally provide support to the Private Markets Legal Team.

Key Responsibilities
EDUCATION: Successful completion of Juris Doctor (JD) degree or completed at least second year in the JD program
EXPERIENCE: Preferably at least 1-2 years experience in a corporate law firm or legal department of a financial or investment institution.
HYBRID WORK ARRANGEMENT: Amenability and readiness to work onsite and from home anytime (dependent on business need AND/OR current external environment/situation)

Key Responsibilities
- Complete and provide supporting “know-your-client” corporate documentation and signing authorities
- Compile Corporate formation documents and resolutions and other information and obtain signatures
- Support Private Markets transactions, and various investment funds for Private Markets
- Assist with the creation, review and revision of documents required to support various investment subsidiaries including but not limited to documents relating to incorporation and organization and other fundamental changes, coordinating initial extra-provincial licenses/registrations and managing subsequent renewals and updates; and overseeing annual maintenance and compliance work and general governance matters
- Assist in subsidiary governance matters like tracking filing deadlines and other general administrative tasks; update and maintain the internal subsidiary database records; and general administrative tasks related to Private Markets Legal
- Assist with updates and maintenance of internal subsidiary database records
- Assist with general administrative tasks in connection with subsidiary governance matters.

- Assist with team project initiatives and improvements

- Ability to be proactive and to work independently on multiple, competing and/or shifting priorities with minimal supervision
- Focus on detail and accuracy, highly organized, possess excellent analytical skills, demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
- Confident to work collaboratively with paralegals, lawyers, administrative assistants and clients on transactions, team projects and initiatives.
- Must possess a general working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Adobe and redlining
